Premiere of “El eco de otras voces”, a documentary about Adolfo Domínguez

The Ourense Film Festival opened its 29th edition with the world premiere of “El eco de otras voces”, a documentary tracing the life and career of Galician designer Adolfo Domínguez. The feature film, directed by Adriana Domínguez, the designer’s daughter and chair of the company since 2020, kicks off its national and international distribution, planned for 2025.

A multifaceted portrait of the creator of “La arruga es bella”

The film retraces Adolfo Domínguez’s career from his childhood in the town of Trives to his youth in Paris. The documentary explores the designer who revolutionized Spanish fashion with his iconic slogan “La arruga es bella” (“Wrinkles are beautiful”) and brought linen back as a designer fabric. The company describes the process as “a film lovers’ adventure” with a strong artistic vision.

A Galician production with international ambitions

“El eco de otras voces” is produced by the Adolfo Domínguez Foundation — set up ten years ago to promote the arts, science and health — with our collaboration on the production.

At the opening gala, Adriana Domínguez expressed her “huge excitement” about the premiere after almost two years of work. The director highlighted the presence of Galicia, Trives and the Seminary in the film, underlining the designer’s ties to his roots.

More than half a century of designer fashion

Adolfo Domínguez founded his company in 1973, building on the family tailoring business. Today the brand has more than 362 points of sale in 24 countries and remains under the leadership of Adriana Domínguez, who combines her role as executive chair with her work as a filmmaker.

The documentary was screened on September 29 at the Teatro Principal in Ourense and on October 1 at Cines Pontevella, ahead of its commercial release planned for next year.
